You can do most searches here by inserting site:www.teslamotors.com/forum/forums in the search field of any engine (google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, etc.) along with your search term.
Another good method is to say "I haven't seen this anywhere yet" and wait for Volker to get your back. Volker, you do an amazing job as Tesla's unofficial search engine. As a backup, you can try inserting that text into your search engine, but it probably won't be as accurate as Volker.

Searching for a tesla thread should now be called Volkernization, IMO.
Has anyone seen the latest PAPER version of Motor Trend. In it is the full test report of including 1-100 (9.8 sec) etc. Also it had been edited from the online version and I think is better. There are two articles on the Model S ... one is under the guise of "Road Trip".
Also it is clear that M/T have tested (this one is online only) another presumably a regular production (not Elon's) Model S. That one had even better figures for the 1/4 mile (12.4 @ 112.5) although not quite as good for 0-60 (4.0). That would put it on track for a 0-100 of about 9.5 sec!
The Car and Driver test gave considerably slower results for acceleration but then said that the top speed is 135 mph which is considerably more than Tesla claimed 130.
All this makes me wonder if they are still trying out different final drive ratios, or could it be that there is some else happening?
Oh another thing:
It looks to me that Motor Trend is setting the Model S up to be in the M/T car of the year contest ... To much testing to be an unimportant car to them.
IMO Tesla will win because it is important and ground breaking in so many ways.
Hoping my investments pan out so I can get one soon because I can't stand waiting. Oh well...
9.5s to 100 puts it in some very rarified company. Everything lower than that are exotics and the ultimate suped up sedans (CTS-V, MB S65 AMG, BMW M6 E63). At 9.5 it ties with the Ford GT40 and only 0.1s slower than a Gallardo. The Model S beats the Ferrari 575 and 612.
And I wonder how much gas any of those drink on the way to 100?

How does the acceleration of the Model S compare to that of the Roadster, Roadster Sport, etc.?
Model S 40kw: 6.5
Model S 60: 5.9
Model S 85: 5.6
Model S P85: 4.4
Roadster S: 3.7
Given that Motor Trend was hitting 0-60 times of 3.9 seconds with the Performance model, I wonder if a non-performance 85kWh car will outperform the given speed. There are some non-Performance Signature owners out there who may be able to tell us (though it's understandable if they're a little distracted by actually having their car...).
Note that while Model S Performance loses to Roadster Sport in 0-60 it wins the quartermile drag race against it (or is very very close to it, not yet official results). Model S Performance has better high speed performance than Roadster. At highway speeds when passing truck doing 55 there is not much competition to Model S Performance, you need to go look at some real supercars to get something that beats it.

That was with rolling start (generally used to eliminate the ICE mechanical lag in getting the fluids flowing and the metal meshing).
I wonder if the difference in 0-60 times claimed vs. tested is due to Tesla's claimed time being tied to the performance of a car tested at max gross weight (to use the aeronautical term) while the magazine tested a car with a single occupant?
I'm about as biased as they come, but....
If Motor Trend doesn't call the Model S the Car of the Year, what other car could they possibly rank higher? After you've driven this car, any other car feels like a Model T.

sergiyz, when and where did you experience this behavior? It has been observed on some test drives during the Get Amped Tour, and has been discussed here in the forums (sorry, no link at hand right now, but try this). The observation was confirmed once or twice, but the huge majority of test drivers didn't notice anything even though many were paying particular attention to the behavior under full throttle.
Although we do not have anything official, the consensus on this forum was that it is not an inherent problem with the Model S. The problem seems to be limited to a few individual cars (if even more than one), and probably has to do with traction control software or sensors, rather than weight distribution.
Has anyone noticed today that the model S is one of Motor Trends contenders for MT car of the year.
I think (hope) it is going to win.
Model S has received nominations not only from Motor Trend, but also from Automobile magazine, Yahoo Autos, and even the Time magazine.

If the focus of the event is opening up some Superchargers in the Northeast it's chance. If the MT car of the year is also mentioned, it's a combination.
Considering that MT called the S the Most Important Car Since The Model 'T', I don't see how they can logically NOT make it also their COTY. In the summary comments on the voting page, the "Didn't Like" was just that the styling was rather 'safe'. They must have a jerry3 on staff!
Brian, not to split hairs, but I think the Model T comparison was posed as a question or possibility, not a fact.
True -- but even raising it as a serious possibility raises the MS far above the ICE cars. Can you imagine any other car warranting the label?
