Busy day today...
Did my first test drive. Fantastic. The acceleration is incredible!

Just before leaving for the test drive I got my Finalize button and email, so when I got home I finalized, waiting for paperwork.

S85, gray with standard seats, tech, and standard suspension. Nothing fancy...

Except its an electric car!

blc1017 | January 21, 2013

cotegang, did they give you a delivery estimate when you finalized?

Brian H | January 21, 2013

drp;
That's 1 mo. or less from finalize to delivery. I wonder what that scatterplot looks like.

cotegang | January 21, 2013

The estimate was Mar-Apr, but they also said there would be an estimate with my final paperwork so I'll report that when I get it in a day or so.

drp | January 21, 2013

Brian

Probably 6 weeks from finalize to delivery. Gonna' have to get my own 19"ers due to the temp in Chicago.

hsadler | January 22, 2013

Wow - 5 weeks reserve to configure !!

Musterion | January 22, 2013

Actually now down to nearly 4 weeks reserve-to-configure:

Reservation #16,163 placed 20 Dec 2012.
Just received "Invitation to Configure" email at 4:51 pm Pacific Time today 22 Jan 2013.

Had earlier scheduled test drive on Feb. 1 thinking that was plenty of time...

mclary | January 23, 2013

Received my email and finalize button yesterday at 4:51 pm PT. Reserved on December 20th after my test drive in San Jose. Reservation #16263. 85kWh, tech, sound, air, shelf, 21", white, black roof, black leather w/ obeche gloss. I ordered the floor mats from Tesla and received the shipping email today for the interior set and all weather frunk mat.
I am ready to finalize, but my wife wants to test drive first. Hopefully the Menlo Park store can make it happen this Saturday during our date night. Its also my birthday, so it would make a nice present!!!

mclary | January 23, 2013

Musterion - where are you located? I'm in the San Francisco/East Bay Area. It is amazing that we reserved on the same day and are exactly 100 reservations apart.
I reserved around 2:30 pm PT on 12/20.

Brian H | January 24, 2013

mclary;
excellent; get the exact time and we can figure res/minute or minutes/res, whichever is better. :) ;)

Go_Peddle_4_me | January 24, 2013

I posted this on another thread, but has anyone with a 40kWH configuration been asked to config yet? The huge disparity between numbers on the list may be due to the earlier reservations for the 40kWH config not being built yet and TM is working to batch all the 85kWH and 60 kWH configs out first.

Thoughts?

edavis008 | January 24, 2013

Reservation 16,473 finalized last night. MS 85kWh, active air, all options except 21" wheels. I hope I get the child seats at delivery.

MischaS | January 24, 2013

Sig. Performance #12 (Europe, Switzerland)

got my "it time to build your Model S" e-mail this morning. Finished my configuration in the local Tesla store (first one in Switzerland) and got the paperwork done.

Now my myTesla account sais: your Model S is in production! What a great sentence! Looking forward to the day when I get the keys...

Config: sig red, white leather, grey 21" wheels, black roof.

Electric cheers
Mischa

Musterion | January 24, 2013

@mclary
I had to check (both on where I am and when I reserved). I'm in SF Bay Area, but probably just a coincidence. Now for exact time, which email should we quote? I received a "Thank You for Your Reservation!" on 12/20 8:32 PST. However I actually paid the day before and got the "Your Model S Reservation is Complete" email on 12/19, payment time stamp Dec 19, 2012 10:18:36 PST. Sorry for confusion and my lack of precision. I need to finish my coffee before doing any detailed calculations, but perhaps @Brian H (I'm big fan of Vancouver BC) can now figure out reservations/sec during that day in the meantime.... In any case you might jump in front of me as I also need to wait for test drive before approval :)

The Froq | January 24, 2013

@ mischa. What key?

MischaS | January 24, 2013

@The Froq: good point. But let's face it: sensor, transponder or whatever sounds quite strange. Matchbox car would be great. But who would get that one? Going to the car wash: please give me your matchbox car? Wouldn't work... ;)

gregv64 | January 24, 2013

@wdazew: The problem is that you don't "have" a 40 until after you config. That's what invitation to config means, that Tesla is now asking you to choose what type of car you want. Prior to that you can play around with options and battery type all you want.

It goes strictly in reservation order.

martijn | January 24, 2013

@MichaS: congrats !! you will be among the first ones in Europe.
Is your delivery window really june-july ?
Earlier they mentioned EU-deliverys would start in april.

MischaS | January 24, 2013

@Martijn: Copied from my countersigned contract:

VORAUSSICHTLICHES LIEFERDATUM FÜR DAS FAHRZEUG:
JUN, 2013 - JUL, 2013

The tesla sales rep said today while I was completing the ordering process that production for Europe starts in March. Assuming that shipping (by ship) to the Netherlands takes 6 to 8 weeks, another week to get it from there to Switzerland and another one for the local paper work and registration, June might be a good guess. I still hope for May... ;)

Brian H | January 24, 2013

I rough it at 28:10 between them, so 100/28.167 = 3.55 res./hr. Can't be more precise because mclary's time is approximate. Put the other way round, that's 0:16:54 between reservations.

djm12 | January 24, 2013

Got my invitation to finalize for P16615 yesterday morning (1/23) and submitted about 5pm. I digitally signed the contract a few hours ago for a red, 60kw, air suspension, supercharger-capable Model S. It'll be great if it arrives within the advertised Apr-May delivery window.

cb9 | January 24, 2013

AnTeslapation - the jittery feeling you get when you realize your turn to configure could really be any day now (I'm P17295, I reserved 12/30 in DC, right after my test-drive around 1:30pm) and you're having second thoughts about how ready you are to finalize.

This forum has helped with every decision point so far, so I'm only agonizing on whether or not the gray interior will work in the pearl white given that the interior ceiling in the design studio appears to be beige.

rlpm | January 24, 2013

Just got the finalize button & email, and finalized my P85! Now waiting for pre-MVPA.
US P #16743

Paulreiche | January 25, 2013

I received an invitation to configure resevation #16029 on January 23rd and e-signed the agreement on the 24th. Estimate delivery Feb-Mar.

spaterson76 | January 30, 2013

I reserved on New Year's Eve & just got my invitation to configure.
If I don't configure by Feb 26th, I have to pay 2013 prices. Thought I had more time. Seems strangely fast, doesn't it? US #17468.

gregv64 | January 30, 2013

Exactly on schedule. When Tesla announced the new pricing at the end of November they indicated in an email to reservation holders that all reservations made under the old pricing would be asked to configure by Jan 31st.

defmonk | January 30, 2013

I reserved on January 3rd. I just received my invitation to configure today with a deadline of February 27th. P#17,955...Rep says that my 60kWh would be delivered April-May if I finalized soon. Wow!

rlpm | January 30, 2013

@defmonk - what changes after the deadline? Since you reserved after the price increase, the price won't change, right? Does the deadline just affect your estimated delivery date?

gibren | January 30, 2013

Wow defmonk, that was fast for you. Good for you. I am 520 cars more to go in line and hoping for that invite soon.

defmonk | January 30, 2013

After the deadline, according to the rep and the correspondence, I would be subject to the $2,500 price increase. However, the build tool still shows the increased price. I pointed this out to the rep. She didn't seem to think it was a problem and that the lower price would still apply.

dmarwah | January 30, 2013

reserved Dec. 31st to avoid the price increase and got my time to build email today. P17,816

callmesam | January 30, 2013

Got my email today to configure 18,175. Too soon. May push back or get the X.

gregv64 | January 30, 2013

@defmonk: If you reserved on January 3rd, didn't you have the increased price to begin with? Tesla stated you needed to reserve by December 31st to get the old prices.

defmonk | January 31, 2013

@gregv64: I was pleasantly surprised by the text of my configure e-mail. It clearly states that the 2012 price applies, provided the order is finalized before 2/27. It could be that there is a grace period or, perhaps, the cancelation rates have increased as folks who impetuously placed reservations to beat the price increases are getting cold feet. Either way, I'm happy to get an unanticipated benefit.

psirnes | January 31, 2013

FInalized today!! Nowegian EU sig 52
Sign Red, Pano. Tan Matte Obeeche. 19 inch weels

gibren | January 31, 2013

Anyone invited to configure today?

psirnes | January 31, 2013

Very smooth process with docu sign . About 4 hrs from the finalize button appeared until the garage page said "in production"

screen dumps here

https://www.dropbox.com/home/Public/TESLA%20FINALIZE

in the last minute changed from 21 to 19 inch weels reading about all the problems with the big wheels on bad roads etc

now the wasting time until June/July and a summer holiday here in Norway driving our new Tesla across the mountains to the fjords on the west coast, taking our time and charge where we find it suitable.

psirnes | January 31, 2013

i am a notorious dyslectic - waiting time not waisting

Brian H | January 31, 2013

psirnes;
And, in fact, you said wasting not waisting. I can't even imagine what waisting means, actually. ;)

DouglasR | January 31, 2013

If you can head home, toe the line, foot the bill, and nose around, why can't you waist time?

MB3 | January 31, 2013

+1 Douglas R

Brian H | January 31, 2013

Because then everything goes to (your) pot.

sshrivas | February 1, 2013

Looks like the flurry of emails to finalize in last few days has stopped or slowed down. My RN is 18,750 and was really hoping to get caught in this wave of invites. Oh well!

gibren | February 1, 2013

Yes, things do seem to have slowed down. I have #18,515 and am hoping to get an invite any day now. We shall see.
