Great flat tire kit

Great flat tire kit

I just bought the "Slime" repair kit at Target for $16 on sale. It comes with a compressor and a can of stuff that is supposed to plug a leak when released into the affected tire. Seems like a good thing to carry, and well worth the price.

Be sure the Slime is TPMS friendly.

From the Slime site:

Is Slime TPMS safe?
Yes, Slime makes a TPMS safe formula for cars and trucks with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). Look for the yellow bottle and the TPMS Safe icon. Many of Slime’s Spair kits also feature TPMS Safe Sealant. If your vehicle has TPMS, try the Smart Spair or Safety Spair from Slime.

Don't get the green bottle!

In checking further, you need model 70004 or 70005 for TPMS. The kits I have seen at Target and most other dealers were NOT compatible. The kit should clearly say TPMS on it. Caveat emptor!

@L8MDL

Agreed 70004 is TPMS friendly. However it IS in a green bottle on the Slime website. Thanks for your caution nonetheless.

Yes, and it's a green bottle in real life also. I have the 70005 kit.

Interesting...didn't mean to mislead anyone, just looked at their site, which says "Yes, Slime makes a TPMS safe formula for cars and trucks with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). In looking at kit prices, I would be surprised if a 16 dollar kit is TPMS safe, but I've been surprised a couple of times lately...

Had to use Slime today and made sure tpms safe. The compressor only inflates to 35 psi but worked great....

What about the tire repaire kit sold by Tesla? It contains a bottle of sealant. Is it TPMS compatible?

The Tesla kit I ordered showed up without a bottle of sealant. Anyone know which sealant bottle works with the kit?
