The charge port door is open frequently on our S, parked in our garage, when we enter the garage to use the car. Usually, I just close the door and go on my way. Has anyone else experienced this?
More. On 3 occasions, after closing the door, I heard the sound of the mechanism that opens it and it popped open again. Twice when this happened I was actually entering the car, or already in the car, and witnessed the display change to "Charge Port Door Open."
We were approaching 1,400 miles on the car the last time it happened. I was driving in slow traffic in a construction zone when I heard the telltale relay/solenoid sound from the rear of the car and the display changed to, "Charge Port Door Open." I closed it when I reached my destination.
I notified Tesla Service and added the problem to their list of items to address on a previously scheduled service call. It didn't happen while the Service Ranger was here. He was aware of it happening in their service facility when several cars respond to the open charge port command from one car. Our situation remains unresolved.
Update -- It hasn't happened in the garage since the car was taken away to a service center to find out why it discharged the battery to zero overnight. This was diagnosed to be because of a defective charging cable.
It doesn't explain the incident while driving described earlier.
