Now off to make some choices... P779

Isn't it so they can lock up more buyers into contracts? You do lose 10k if you back out after signing the doc.

Steven4 | August 21, 2012

I believe it has always been 90 days from placing your order to receive your S. They are giving you 30 days to make your choices after you receive your 'Time to Build' email, so that puts you at 120 days, if there are no delays..

Electric Machete | August 21, 2012

I'm P#3820, got my email today as well. It looks like they are running at about 1,000 reservations per week for the last three weeks. This rate is way ahead of their anticipated production run for 2013 of 20k/yr.

The silence from Tesla has been a bit deafening. I'm guessing that the feedback from real world driving of the Founders Series and the first few Sigs has Tesla re-evaluating a few things and tweaking their line. Whatever the case, I would love to hear an update from Tesla regarding the apparent slow down of production.

I'm all for slowing it down to improve the final product and I really don't mind waiting a few extra months for a vehicle that won't need a recall. I would just like to know what the issues are.

jbunn | August 21, 2012

I was wondering if we would get another flurry of these on Tuesday. Seems to be regular now.

Also might be very possible that they are calling a large number of res holders to get the configs in. Two folks with adjacent res numbers might get very different delivery dates depending on exterior color, battery size, interior color, or perhaps even physical location. I suspect they are batching for efficiency and ease of build as Jerry touched on.

dubaty | August 21, 2012

Has anyone received confirmation that their paperwork was received? I haven't heard anything since signing and would feel more comfortable if I knew that the process was moving forward. I just sent them an email but wondered if anyone here had any info.

ddruz | August 21, 2012

dubaty, I received confirmation of my digitally signed paperwork the next day.

dubaty | August 21, 2012

Thanks, ddruz, so something went wrong. Ill have to resubmit it seems.

P3446. I received my confirmation within 30 minutes of digitally signing the docs. I would call them. they seem to be really good in handling questions over the phone

Liz G | August 22, 2012

@dubaty

Call you Tesla rep first. I also did not get confirmation after signing right away. But he tracked it down and they did have it and I was sent confirmation shortly after I spoke with him.

dubaty | August 22, 2012

Thanks for all the replies. I will try calling them in the morning.

paper work partialy on line and on phone. I then received
the "Congratulations! Your Model S order is on its way to the Tesla Factory" that afternoon." I was told that delivery would
be Dec or Jan. I was also imformed that they would notify
me 30 days before delivery.

Brad Holt | August 23, 2012

On its way, by way of Australia? That's 4-5 months of manufacturing! \9-/

KevinR.co.us | August 23, 2012

Brad Holt- What's your res #?
I was pleasantly surprised another round went out on today since the previous rounds were Tuesdays. Over a year ago I was told that Tesla was going to try to deliver all the

continued..
P reservations up to about 5000 this year. It looks like they are pretty close to that time horizon to me.

Nelson T. | August 23, 2012

I signed my MVPA today and the document said that the estimated delivery date is between NOV, 2012 - DEC, 2012. I am P3495 and I wonder if it is because of my location (20 miles north west of Fremont factory) that my delivery date seems to be sooner than some reservation holders who have reported with lower reservation numbers.

benjamin.brooks | August 23, 2012

Are the reservation holders who've been recently finalizing their cars being given more feature choices / options than what is in the default "Design your Model S" online studio from TM?

Brian H | August 23, 2012

Nelson;
RU Large, Medium, or Small? That influences delivery date, too.

Petrokalis | August 23, 2012

Nelson:
I am in San Jose with P2420. My MVPA (finalized on August 14) has an estimated delivery date of Dec 2012-Jan 2013.

I am getting the 85 kWh battery but not the performance model. I'm not sure if it means that they have become more accurate in their delivery estimates in the past 9 days or what...

I'm hoping that your estimate is accurate, and my estimate is long :)

jbunn | August 23, 2012

P4142 contacted today 8/23 at 11:20 AM PST

WhoooHoooo!

KevinR.co.us | August 23, 2012

P4235 Signed paperwork at 6 PM-- Performance/black leather. Estimated delivery Nov/Dec 2012 The most pleasant way I have ever agreed to part with so much money :o)

Michael23 | August 23, 2012

These dates seem all over the place. I'm 427 performance in dec. I wonder if performance models are earlier.

znino | August 23, 2012

For all you Canadian reservations holders I can tell you I also got my Time to Build email today. I am Signature #7 (Roadster Owner). Seems they have sent out quite a few emails at the same time. I have seen S12, S72 and my S7 on the same day. What we dont know is when the actual deliveries will be. How many will they ship to Canada per week when they start? Certainly not 72 a day! I wish we had a little more concrete information :(

Nelson T. | August 23, 2012

I ordered the 85kWh Performance Model S in black with tan interior and the standard roof. Maybe this configuration has a shorter lead time. When I talked to the Tesla representative, he said it will most likely be delivered in Dec.

jbunn | August 24, 2012

For those that have not gotten the mail yet, the web site gives you the estimated delivery. I have not tried, but I think if you play with the configuration, you can get different dates out of it. I also get Nov/Dec. At first, this seems like a long time, but August is almost over, and that allows 30 days to complete the paperwork, and 60 to 90 days to delivery. By the time I get it, I will have been planning for almost two years. There is however a light and the end of the tunnel, and it appears to be Tesla headlights... ; )

Brian H | August 24, 2012

Elon sez the next 6 months (as of mid-July) are nerve-wracking critical. I don't believe that means TM must hit the 5K deliveries target, just demonstrate that it can do at least that many per quarter, without significant quality blow-backs.

IAC, ain't we got fun this fall? (Sept. 21-Dec. 21)

Vawlkus | August 24, 2012

Y'know, I think I'm gonna ask Elon to deliver me a Birthday present this year (Dec24). I want TSLA stock to be at $40 per share or better }B)

ColinBowern | August 24, 2012

From a conversation this week with the Tesla reservation folks it sounds like the US Signature deliveries happen first then Canadian Signature. Most will be done by end of year. After backing out as S67 in Canada I'm back in the game with a big cheque mailed off earlier this week to get one of the last Signature editions in Canada (hopefully, waiting on reservation number).

cablechewer | August 24, 2012

Well in that case Colin you might get mine. I was Cdn S64, but I am dealing with a huge amount of job insecurity right now and can't risk breaking my finances with a Sig between now and Christmas. I just got off the phone where I made the request to switch queues. I wish they had asked me to configure a couple months ago or a couple months from now :). Nevertheless I am sure I will be happy with a regular production car next year.

KBF | August 24, 2012

I'm locked in, Canadian Signature #1 (regular) as of yesterday.

George B's last statement that indirectly referred to Canadian Sig production was in one of his blogs: "The first 1200 cars delivered will be North American Signatures" (which of course doesn't include Founders). I contacted Tesla a week or so ago and they said they were still on track. The dates we are getting now are definitely "underpromise, overdeliver", but at the same time who knows what glitches may happen.

wbrown01 | August 24, 2012

P4309 contacted Thursday 8/23 at 2:20 PM ET

Mid battery size/black/tan leather/ air suspension. Estimated delivery Nov/Dec 2012. I have a lot of work to do to get ready.

toto_48313 | August 24, 2012

I'm Can Sig #5 and got the email yesterday.

I also talk to the Sales rep, and he told me that if there is any of the 200 Canadian signature spot left by end of september, US customers who request it will have a signature model(depending how much will left from Canada) as they will produce 1200 signature model in North America prior to any general production.

So if you are in the US, you can expect to have between 20 to 50 signature as there is currently just a little bit more than 160 Canadian Sig reservation , and they expect few downgrade to Gen prod. If you are in Canada it's time to configure your signature model.

mdennick | August 24, 2012

We received the email 8/23 at 11:20am PDT. We choose 85,air,pano,leather,tech,sound,19",dolphin. Estimated delivery Nov/Dec.

We happen to be close to the Newport Beach store today so we went in to finalized. I have to say the assistants there, with Nate, was awesome. He was great. This is so not a "car buying" experience but a very enjoyable time with extremely friendly, helpful folks. Bravo TM.

jackhub | August 25, 2012

@mdennick. What's your sequence number?

Brant | August 25, 2012

@jbunn
where is the date listed?
I was looking after reading your post but haven't found it yet

mdennick | August 25, 2012

Yeah, I knew I forgot something. ;-) P4035 Also, Non-Perf.

Michael23 | August 25, 2012

If p500 is december is it even possible to make up to 4k that month!? I have a feeling there will be a lot a disappointed people, but I am hoping they are going to over deliver somehow so I can get mine earlier than dec!
