Surprises from my profile

Surprises from my profile

I have discovered that there are some parameters that are saved in your profile that do not cause a request to save the profile again. If you change your seat position or mirrors, the window pops up and asks you to save or restore. However, if you change the displays on the dash, the window doesn't pop up. But if you save profile with that display, the next time you use the profile it will switch to that. It's a good way to restore the dash if you get the nav screen up there and want to go back to what you had before. Also some of the climate control settings work the same way. Cabin temp and seat heat return to the last used setting. However, AC on/off/auto and the vent directions are remembered in the profile. If you want to set these you can set them, tweak you seat to a new position and back, bringin up the window, then save and it will come back when you restore the profile. Of course, these settings should be set to last position on startup and not be part of the profile, and hopefully they will fix this at some point.

Great. Where did you see this list. Don't tell me it was in the manual.

nickjhowe | 7 March, 2013

Not quite - go to the profile settings screen and in small blue writing is a clickable link that says "what is saved" or something like that.

Never saw it but i'll look for it. Thx | 7 March, 2013

I spent a week switching to sport steering mode before I realized I had to update my profile

@David - > If you change your seat position or mirrors, the window pops up and asks you to save or restore.

I don't get any popup when I change my mirrors. Everything in the owners guide says driver-side mirror, my delivery specialist said both. But neither do anything... I've sent an email to ownership but haven't gotten an answer yet, then I saw this thread. Maybe you guys know something.

If only they would add radio station presets for the audio because there are not enough to begin with.

nickjhowe | 7 March, 2013

@GeekEV - I'm on 1.19.42 and save pops up if I move either mirror.

David Trushin | 7 March, 2013

I don't recall if it pops up or not. But both mirror positions are saveable. Also the mirror postion on reverse is a saveble option. You might try getting the window to pop up some other way and then save it.

GeekEV | 7 March, 2013

@nickjhowe - Is that a tech package only thing I wonder? Nothing I read suggests that though. I don't have the tech package.

nickjhowe | 8 March, 2013

@GeekEV - maybe - I have the tech package. Check out the software version you are using, and see if you have the 'what's saved' link on the profile settings.

GeekEV | 8 March, 2013

@nickjhowe - I do. It does not list "mirror auto-tilt" (which sounds different than normal mirror position anyway), "fog lights" or "walk-away door locks". The later two are clearly because I don't have the tech package. The first one, I don't even know if that's the same thing we're talking about. Notice also that neither yours nor mine list seat position - but those are saved...

David Trushin | 8 March, 2013

Mirror autotilt is for when you put the car in reverse. To set it, you put the car in reverse, position the mirrors the way you want them and then save the profile.

GeekEV | 8 March, 2013

@David - Yeah, that's my understanding as well. But that "what's saved" screen nickjhowe referred to doesn't list that for me...

GeekEV | 8 March, 2013

@nickjhowe - I'm running 1.19.49.

Anyone else out there with this version and no tech pkg get the mirrors saved in their profile?

I suppose I should just call Tesla service and see what's up. I'm not getting as good of a response when my emails get handed off to service... Or maybe it really hasn't been that long and it just seems like it because I'm scouring the forums like a junkie.

GeekEV | 13 March, 2013

So I finally called Tesla Ownership about this. At first they tried to tell me it was tech package, but after pressing them further, they double checked and said that driver profile is tied to the memory seats and that if you have that (I do) the mirrors should be part of it. So it looks like mine are broken! :-(

Oh well, they'll fix it.

Pricee2 | 29 June, 2013

@Geek. Did you ever get your mirrors to save in your profile?

olanmills | 30 June, 2013

Wait can we clarify something? I too have the memory/leather/heated seats and the tech package.

The position of the side view mirrors in "normal" mode (not reverse mode) are not saved and restored. So is this the way it's supposed to function, or not?

I understand that the reverse auto-tilt setting (and perhaps even the position of the mirrors in the reverse auto-tilt mode) is saved to the driver profile, but what about the normal position of the side mirrors?
