You don't really have to post in more than one forum.

But since you did I'll add another comment to what I placed in the General forum.

If you do place your reservation, you'll probably be able to look at and drive in a beta sooner than otherwise.

@nastinupe

First off, congrats to switching, I am sure you will find you made the better choice.
Secondly, I would actually suggest putting down for the Signature Model S if you want the 300 mile version. It bumps you up towards the front, and technically, the reservation numbers have already surpassed the max amount Tesla expects to produce next year.
They guessed 5000 units produced then 20,000 in 2013 and so on.. as of now we have around 5,246 according to our unofficial running tally.

michiganmodels | 8 June, 2011

@nastinupe -

I agree with msiano17. Also, the Fisker is not coming out anytime soon. I can't provide you with any details how or why (I know that is annoying, so you can chalk it up as a "rumor" if you'd like, but I also knew in January that Fisker would miss their June "Drop Dead Delivery Date"). More importantly, IF/when the Fisker does come out, you will not want to own or lease one. Trust me. Again, I apologize for sounding cryptic, but it's been difficult for me to bite my tongue regarding Fisker. I chimed in because I would like to properly advise someone against pissing away thousands of dollars and months of frustration when a superior option exists.

Make the Signature reservation and thank me in 10 to 12 months.

but on 1 June i got this message for the European Sales Advisor:

.... We do not issue reservation numbers any longer purely because they are subject to change, but if you like I can get your current number to give you an idea of your position in the “queue”.
You will receive regular updates from Tesla about your Model S and we will let you know as soon as Model S test drives are available in your region......

reserved signature S in Canada #81

Ad van der Meer | 15 June, 2011

@kbekaert
Your reservation number is going to drop over time as some people will get out of line for different reasons.
I put down the money just over a year ago (sigh and more than a year to go) and my number has dropped from P270 to P171. I guess they don't want to update the website every time somebody bails ship.
I don't think the US list has been cleaned up yet. I wonder how many reservations still stand there.

Kallisman | 15 June, 2011

Shouldn't be too hard to make automatic updates on the web page. Computers tend to be good at calculations. But as we have seen, the numbers are not certain since your number in line will ultimately also be based on what options u choose.

michiganmodels | 15 June, 2011

@David M. - No problem. I thought it would be more insightful to have a thread dedicated to data rather than "wish lists" and advice to Tesla engineers.

@Ad van der Meer - I do agree that reservation holder numbers will drop. More importantly, I'm interested to know what the US "drop out rate" is because factoring in the European and Canadian "re-numbering (i.e., drop outs)" the rate of reservations per day has increased from approximately 7 reservations per day in April to approximately 11 reservations per day in June. Again, the US has not renumbered so, this current rate of 11 reservations per day is artificially high.

I plan on sharing my spreadsheet in the not-to-distant future (sorry for the delay; my wife and I found out that we are expecting our first child. So, I've been occupied with that.). The spreadsheet will illustrate that the demand (i.e., reservations per day) has increased significantly over the past 4 to 6 months, which is arguably more important than the total number of reservations to date. Again, to find out a more accurate reservation per day rate, it would be helpful for Tesla to renumber the US reservations.

Is there anybody except me who noted an *increase* in his or her reservation number? I went from P1 to P3 (Europe) which, as you will understand, makes me a little unhappy (although, honestly, irrationally so). I hope Tesla will fix this soon, and place me back on the pole position! :-)

Kallisman | 15 June, 2011

My reservation number disappeared from the My Tesla site several months ago, so I have no idea where I am in line anymore. I used to be P299 before it disappeared. Still says status reserved, at least.

David70 | 15 June, 2011

Kallisman,

Perhaps that means that there have been enough early reservation holder that have lost patience and left for other (I don't know what other could be) options, that numbers below P300 are in flux.

rd2 | 15 June, 2011

Reserved my Model S today! Haven't received my reservation number as of yet, but they checked for me today and told me they were still UNDER the 5,000 reservations for first year production. Is the tally overestimating a little?

ncn | 15 June, 2011

"Is there anybody except me who noted an *increase* in his or her reservation number? I went from P1 to P3 (Europe) which, as you will understand, makes me a little unhappy (although, honestly, irrationally so). I hope Tesla will fix this soon, and place me back on the pole position! :-)"

Volker, a couple of early Signature reservers -- ones who reserved before you -- might have "dropped down" to ordinary production.

rd2 -- The tally is definitely overestimating; not only are there definitely some dropouts, but there are definitely switches between ordinary and Signature, and both create "gap numbers".

michiganmodels | 15 June, 2011

@rd2 - the short answer to your question is: yes. Yes, the tally is overestimated because Tesla has yet to re-order the US reservation numbers.

Did your Tesla representative convey that the US reservations were under 5,000 or the worldwide reservations are under 5,000? I believe Tesla will not deliver the right-side driving Model S' until 2013. I know the 2012 production numbers and regions are posted somewhere here and on Tesla's site, but this list includes all reservations for 2012 and beyond.

Also, the Tesla representative I spoke with late last week was confident that the first 5,000 deliveries of 2012 are almost reserved.

So, yes, this list is artificially inflated because Tesla has yet to re-order the US list to account for "drop outs" and upgrades from general production to Signature Series reservations. However, it appears demand will exceed the 2012 production goal.

rd2 | 16 June, 2011

@ncn and @michiganmodels - thanks for clarifying. Will let you know when my reservation number arrives. I neglected to ask whether the 5000 was worldwide or US only. I'm here in the Bay Area, though, so it could have been a US-only number he was quoting.

It's very exciting to be on the list finally. The wait will be excruciating though. Thanks for keeping everyone up to date.

@Discoducky,

I don't think that reservations will stay linear. I expect we will see an acceleration with each new milestone and as reservation systems come online for other geographies.

bagu | 26 June, 2011

Hi all, I have been reading for a long time on the forum and decided to start posting as well. Seen the 2 years wait for the car, we have to keep us busy with something.... :-)

I had P422 (Europe), received it on 14/04/2011, I changed it recently for a S65 (Europe) on 20/06/2011.

On strange thing, my Tesla representative told me he has about 130 Signature orders for Europe, he explained the number doesn't say anything, close to production the numbers will be "straighten out" anyway. The first 500 signature would be deliverd almost at the same time, so this won't change much in any case.
